Desert Rose x2: 2 time NFL MVP Kurt Warner

Kurt Warner Brett Farve

Typically we post ONE Desert Rose of the week.  However: a reader sent us this submission and we were compelled to post.  Had we obtained it sooner it more than likely would have been our DRW.  In any event:

Kurt Warner, 2 time NFL MVP lead the Arizona Cardinals to a 30 – 17 victory the other night over Brett Farve and the Minnesota Vikings!

Warner, who missed the Tennessee game because of a concussion, threw for three touchdowns and 285 yards.

desert-rose2Warner split snaps in practice last week with Matt Leinart and didn’t know he was going to play until he woke up Sunday. Maybe the rest did him some good. He was as sharp as a stiletto, and his offensive line gave him time to shred the Vikings secondary.

“Nobody believed we were going to win this game,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “But we did in that (locker) room, and that’s what was important.”

Warner and his wife Brenda have devoted time and money to their First Things First Foundation, the name of which was derived from his interview after winning the Super Bowl in 1999. The foundation has been involved with numerous projects for causes such as children’s hospitals, people with developmental disabilities and assisting single parents.

Warner’s work both on and off the field resulted in him being awarded the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award 2008.

Warner was selected by USA Weekend as the winner of its annual Most Caring Athlete Award for 2009.

  2. To his credit, Snyder seems to have realized that most of his decisions were terrible. The signing of Allen as GM and perhaps Shanahan as coach may bode well for this once storied franchise….
