War Crimes Trial Set For John Demjanjuk in Munich
John Demjanjuk stands accused of assisting in the murder of more than 27,000 Jews at a Nazi death camp. His trial is set to begin in Munich.
Demjanjuk , 89 has consistently denied he was a guard at Sobibor, a death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. In fact Mr. Demjanjuk denies ever having been to Sobibor. Deported from the U.S. earlier this year he will stand trial once again none the less.
This is not the first time John Demjanjuk has stood trial for these acts. Nearly twenty years ago, Demjanjuk was sentenced to death in Israel. Referred to as “Ivan the Terrible”, an infamous and sadistic guard at Treblinka death camp.
However, as noted in the time-line above that ruling was overturned in light of evidence allegedly showing that another Ukranian was more likely responsible for the crimes.
Likely to last until May this trial could potentially land the retired U.S. car worker, Demjanjuk in prison for 15 years.
The world will be watching as this is the first time the war crimes trials have not focused on a senior Nazi commander but rather a low ranking foreign service member add to that the probability that more than 60 years after the horrors this is likely to be Germany’s last notable war crimes trial.

I love the way Demjanjuk feigns disability when he knows the cameras are running! Yet a hidden cam in a van across the street from his house showed that his performance was a sham.
Indeed. Go Figure.
